Obituary for Robert McClellan Jr.

Robert McClellan, Jr. passed away on December 14, 2022, following a brief illness. He was born on March 27, 1933 to Robert McClellan Sr. and Ocie-Hurt McClellan Sr. He was a longtime resident of Groton, CT and was the owner of R&0 Paving Company and The Flamingo Club. Robert loved to listen to his Blues music while having a good conversation about life. His motto as he would say, “You gotta pay the cost to be the boss, right on!” His zeal for life and love was unmatched, he will truly be deeply missed.

Robert is survived by his former wife of 40 years, Yvonne McClellan Jr. and their children, Tommie McClellan, Paul Anthony McClellan, Lavera McClellan Green, Deborah McClellan, Dorisell McClellan Worsley, Aletha M. Stewart (Clarence), Anissa Henderson, and his friend, Rose Alcott. He is also survived by his brothers Ossie McClellan (Jennifer), Jesse McClellan (Sheila), 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and a host of nephews, nieces, and friends galore.

Robert was predeceased by son Robert Charles McClellan, father, Robert McClellan Sr., mother, Ocie Hurt, brother John Bailey (Mac), Edward Lee McClellan, William, John William (JW), sisters Oprah McClellan, Rosie Lee McClellan, Virginia (Virgie) Denton, Willanna McClellan Mackins, Pearl Lee Bolden, Ella Mae Gaston, and Waheeda (Alma-Jean McClellan) Amin.

Robert's Celebration of Life was held at Shiloh Baptist Church, New London, CT, on January 6, 2023, at 1 pm, and was live-streamed and recorded to share with family and friends. Click the link to view: Livestream Recording
