Obituary for Richard Allen Coleman

Richard Allen Coleman, 56, of 11 Carver Street, Norwich, CT, the beloved son of Wallace Coleman, Sr and Emma Beryl Coleman, was called home Saturday, October 25, 2022. Richard’s sunrise was May 20, 1966, on the Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Unit Groton-New London Submarine Naval Station and baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church, New London, CT. Richard attended Norwich Public School Systems and Norwich Free Academy’s Class of 1984.

Prior to Richard’s decline in health over the years, Richard had a strong passion for the culinary arts. His love for cooking provided him with the perfect opportunity for expression while working within the hospitality industry in Southeastern Connecticut and Greater Hartford. He was truly proud of his culinary skills, and he enjoyed sharing the savory treat of traditional Southern comfort dishes with friends and family.

Richard is preceded by his father and mother: Wallace Coleman, Sr, and Emma Beryl Coleman, brothers: Wallace “Wally” Coleman, Jr, Lawrence “Larry” Coleman, Mark Steven Coleman; nephews: Lamont Baldwin, Martin Allen Coleman, and Timothy “Chip” MacLean.

Richard is survived by his son: Tyler Green, daughter: Vanessa Coleman, and siblings: Yvonne Coleman and Mibu Ungel Cheryl Coleman. Lastly, Richard is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins he truly loved as his own.

Celebration of life memorial services will be held Saturday, November 12, 2022, at the Polish Legion of American Veterans POST 132, 465 North Main Street, Norwich, CT, at 2:00 pm.
