North Franklin - Melea’ Mae Jeanette Johnson was born September 9, 2010 to Devin & Charity
Johnson. She was a tough and feisty leader from the start. Melea’ attended Early
Learning at the Bishop School in Norwich, then entered into Integrated Day
Charter School by preschool lottery.
Always outgoing, willing to help and eager to learn; Melea’ excelled in academics.
At the age of 5, beginning in the house while her dad DJ’ed, Melea showed of
some impressive dance moves.
We immediately enrolled her into the Luis Pabon Dance Arts Studio under the
tutelage of Tracee Jackson. Melea’ danced her way into numerous competitions,
winning solo and group awards with her team “Show Kids.” Loving every part of
dancing and performing, she could never pick a favorite. She excelled at Tap,
Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Theatre and Acro, which pushed her into becoming
a member of the Ambassador Dance Company of the International Dance and
Fitness Academy.
Melea’ was an avid reader, loved making any craft or jewelry, riding & tending
to horses, watching veterinarian shows and would binge on Bar Rescue. Her little
cousins held a special place in her heart. She was always willing to play with them,
share her things, or make videos with them. All of Melea’s characteristics were
beautiful, even the ones that would check you and snap you back together if you
got out of line!
Melea’s memories & love will remain alive through her Mom and Dad,
God-Mother Veronica Cook, brothers Tajai (Alexandra) Johnson, Charis Johnson,
& Jeshuah Johnson, Honorary Sisters Teneva Hammond, Victoria Diejuste as
well as her niece Amelia Johnson, & soon arriving nephew.
To cherish & share her memories, she leaves her maternal “mema” Jerry Davis,
& her paternal “mummum” Valerie Johnson, 5 uncles, 4 aunts and 17 cousins. In
addition, she is cherished & remembered by numerous great aunts, uncles,
cousins, in addition to her IDCS family and friends.
OUR GIRL IS NOT LOST… WE KNOW WHERE SHE IS! BUT SHE WILL BE
SORELY MISSED
