Obituary for Mary Lewis

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Lewis was born on the Caribbeans nation of Antigua and Barbuda, to mother Mary Tonge and father Edwards Byam, in the village of Urlings, on the southern part of Saint Mary's parish in Antigua. She was known to many family members as “May May” when she was a little child.

In 1970, Mary migrated to St. Thomas USVI along with John Lewis and her children. On July 28,1971 in the St. Andrew's Church located in St. Thomas USVI, one day before her 35th birthday, she was married to John Lewis and remained so until his home coming on February 19, 1998. She then Migrated to New York in 1989 where she worked for the Holiday Inn, Riverside Manor Nursing Home and finally BLESS Contractions until her retirement in 2000. In 2020 she made her final migration to New London, Connecticut to live and enjoy her last few days with her family, until her home coming on February 2, 2022.

Mary is Survived by 1 sister, Lorane Gilead; 4 sons, Edgar Augustus, Ismael and Arthur Galloway, and Jerome Lewis; 9 grandchildren, Malcom Galloway, Salim Galloway, Sophia Galloway and De Haden Galloway, Syeda Lewis, Jahquille Lewis, Luchiano Lewis, Xavier Lewis and Baby Lewis; and 3 great-grandchildren, Kyle Galloway, Xylem Galloway and Railyn Warren.

Service and Interment are Private.
