Obituary for Marie Exilus

On February 23, 2022, Marie T. Yvette Exilus got her wings and went to walk among the angels after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Haiti to the late Mejeune and Souvenie (Romilus) Exilus.

It would be wrong to say that Yvette lost her battle to cancer because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined. When anyone else would have broken, Yvette stayed strong. Through her we know what true resilience and perseverance truly look like. There was no quit in Yvette. Just because she is no longer here, it does not mean she lost.

Yvette was the biological mother of 4 children. However, many considered her as a surrogate mom. Yvette cared deeply for her family and friends, she was always the first to offer help. She would give you the shirt off her back and she did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. She was a compassionate and giving spirit whose sole passion was caring for others. She will truly be missed.

Yvette leaves to cherish her precious memory her son, Reginald; daughter Yveline; son, Sully; daughter, Elizabeth; her other children, Gary, Ladie, Marlene, Ketia, Magalie, and Faimie, and her 12 grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 5th at Eglise Evangelique Ps 23, 134 Boswell Avenue in Norwich. Viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will Follow at Maplewood Cemetery.
