Obituary for Lamont Baldwin

Lamont “Marty'' a.k.a “Monty” Baldwin, 52, of New London, the beloved son of Mibu Ungel Cheryl Coleman and Dwight Lamont Baldwin, was called home Tuesday, March 1, 2022. Lamont’s sunrise was July 18, 1969 on the Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Unit, Groton-New London Submarine Naval Station, and on April 1, 1983 when he was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church in New London.

Lamont attended Norwich Public School Systems, graduating from Norwich Free Academy’s Class of 1989. As with family tradition, upon graduation, Lamont applied and attended General Dynamic’s Electric Boat (E.B.)Division’s Nuclear Pipefitter apprenticeship training program to become a Nuclear Pipefitter to build the first class of Seawolf submarines. After several years of services with E.B. Lamont was severely injured and he eventually transitioned from life as a pipefitter to the allied health industry as a patient care specialist for various health care agencies in the region. Lamont’s passion for travel and exploration had eventually guided him into the transportation industry as an over the road long haul truck driver. Lamont loved the freedom of the road. He was truly proud of his career and he enjoyed sharing his adventure in colorful details to friends and family.
