Obituary for Harriette K. Brooks
Our beloved Harriette K. Brooks entered eternal rest on Saturday, February 19, 2022 in the City of Bridgeport and State of Connecticut. She was 87 years old. Harriette was born on the beautiful countryside of Sunning Hill in the Parish of St. Thomas, Jamaica, West Indies. She was the daughter of Hubert and Irene Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred E. Brooks. They were married for over 40 years.
She was the youngest of (9) children. She is preceded in death by her brothers; Elijah (Manley), Hawland (Avlan), Altimon (Alty), Bartholomew (Walford/Wally), and her sisters; Catherine, Jusilda (Sister Jus), Ethel Reen (Girlie) and Cynthia. She is survived by her (3) children; Donovan (Maxine), Jennifer (Eugene) and Michelle (Andre).
She is survived by (9) grandchildren; Donovan, Damian, Patrick, Haydrian, Donte, Donice, LaToya, James and Nicholas. She is also survived by a host of relatives; great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and long-time friends.
Harriette had many professions. She was an excellent Dressmaker and Salesperson who traveled to other countries in search of goods and services for her business. As a PCA, she helped provide exceptional care to her patients. She played a vital and important role as a hero in the healthcare industry. Along with her career; she balanced being the best wife, mother and grandmother anyone could ever have.
She was a devout Christian and held strongly to her religious beliefs. She loved to dance, sing and had a great voice. One of her favorite songs to sing was, "Real, Real, Real". Christ was a real and apparent force in her everyday life.
Harriette was a beautiful, peaceful, loving, kind soul with a great spirit. She was the glue to our family. She was loved and adored by all who knew her. The imprint she left on our hearts exceeds the quantity of time she spent on this earth. We were blessed to be touched by her existence. She will forever be missed.
