Doreen Janet Neal-Carrigan, was born August 13, 1966, in New London, Connecticut, the fifth of six daughters of Gabriel Ezekiel (Zeke) and Frances Neal.

A New London native, Doreen attended New London Public Schools which culminated with her 1986 graduation from New London High School. Her life was filled with the love of a joyous family and very dear friends. She enjoyed serving as a sounding board to her older sister’s lives and world, as well as being keenly engaged and attentive to all her friends. Doreen was charming, witty, and opinionated, sharing a laugh at one minute or verbally offering unfiltered feedback, or cutting her eyes in the next minute. Everyone who knew her can validate this point! As her sisters became older and started their families, Doreen provided unconditional, and unlimited love and support.

Doreen’s passion has always been to dote on and/or spoil her nieces/nephews, including her great-niece Alyana, all of whom she left a lasting impression on from an early age. She accomplished this by never telling their secrets, forcing them to bet when they were younger, and collecting the bets when they became employed, then bribing them to ensure she kept their secrets.

In addition, Doreen’s lifelong friends Lori Tracy and Renee Simpson, have been at her side since childhood and of whom she held a special bond to the very end.

In addition to her mother, Frances Neal, Doreen leaves to cherish her memory, her six sisters, Loretta (Nate, Sr.) Thompson-Jones of Wedgefield, South Carolina, Dollisa (Roderick) Walker of Houston, Texas, Doritha Chisley, of Jacksonville, Florida, Debbie Robinson of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Diane Neal of New London, Connecticut, and Denise Neal of Pensacola, Florida; four nephews, Nate (Tamika) Jones, Jr. of Columbia, South Carolina, Alexander Jones of Eastover, South Carolina, Roderick (Kehinde) Walker, II of Pico Rivera, California, and Kurt Robinson, Jr. of New London, Connecticut; three nieces, Tiffany Jones of Columbia, South Carolina, Lauren Walker of Houston, Texas and MeCole Hill of New London, Connecticut; and a host of great-nieces and nephews, other family members, and friends.

Doreen was predeceased by her father, Gabriel Ezekiel (Zeke) Neal.
