Obituary for Darryl Ladson

Darryl Ladson, 41, passed away on September 7, 2022. He and his fraternal twin brother, Dwayne A. Ladson, were born May 16, 1981, in New London, the son of the late Gwendolyn Ladson and the late Jerome Drayton.

Darryl loved spending time with his “lady” or “better half” Denisha Ross, and his three beautiful children, Kimora, 15; Antwone, 13; and eleven-year-old Tiana.

Darryl loved listening to music and rapping and often spoke about how his uncle June’s DJ’ing helped to inspire his love of music. He also enjoyed going to the flea market in New Haven to purchase essential oils and fragrances. He had a green thumb, a trait he inherited from his mother. Darryl loved cooking and enjoyed a good cocktail.

Darryl was a comedian. He always had a nickname for someone or a snide remark that kept everyone laughing. Darryl had great timing and always found the right (or inappropriate) joke to entertain his family and friends.

He was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills, always sporting the team’s colors, despite their losing seasons. Darryl loved animals and dreamed of opening a dog training business. He also had a passion for writing and was eager to help Denisha with her college assignments.

In addition to his partner and children, Darryl is survived by one uncle, John Ladson III of New London; three aunts, Maxine Stubbs, Josephine Ladson-Galvin, and Richardine Scott (Nathaniel Sr.), all of New London; great uncles, Edward Gathers of New London, Harold Ladson of CA, Arthur Ladson of CA, and Calvin Ladson of FL; great aunts, Hannah Williams of Charleston, SC, Mae Morris of New London, and Margaret Davenport of Groton; and a host of cousins and lifelong friends.

Along with his mother, father, and twin brother, Darryl was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Charlotte Ladson; maternal grandfather, John Ladson Jr.; aunt, Cheryl Collins; and uncle, Michael Ladson.

Funeral services are on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, 60 Blackhall St., New London. Calling hours are 10 am - 11 am, with services starting promptly at 11 am. Interment is private. Repast will be at the VFW in New London at 2 pm.

Funeral services are entrusted to Lester Gee Funeral Home.
